We arrived at the Terrace Downs golf course at our scheduled time but the wind was blowing about 40 mph with gusts up to 60, so golf was OUT. 
The golf course is set in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains and the wind comes howling through. The people at the clubhouse were very nice and allowed us to move the tee time to the next morning hoping the wind would be much lighter.
The women that worked at the resort suggested we head over to Methvan, a small village with some cafe’s, so off we went. We arrived in town and walked through some of their stores, 
the hardware store being the first stop, and arrived at Cafe 131. My favorite sign in the cafe was this
It was a lovely cafe and our lunches were great, the postman was next door so we sent post cards and notes to family. We headed back to check into our B&B Quickenberry.
When we arrived we were greeted and told that we had been “Upgraded” to stay in a villa at the golf course, the truth is we believe she had overbooked the B&B, Will told us that everything had been fine the previous week, and her neighbor owned a villa, so she moved us there, a great disappointment since the B&B looked very nice! We did drive back for a gourmet dinner and for breakfast the next morning and both were exceptional. The villa had nice views of the golf course and a wonderful moon that evening.
Golf after breakfast was interesting, the course was in decent condition, the greens were very slow and there were a few holes that were set up with blind shots, but the vistas of the mountains and rivers were beautiful.
What made it more insane was by the time we got to the last five holes the wind picked up well over 30 mph with stronger gusts, so the golf was very crazy.
We did finish and headed to the clubhouse for lunch. Bunny order “Green Lip Mussels” and while the picture is good the brilliance of the green was even better in person.
We then headed out to Lake Tekapo.
